Most full kitchen remodels take somewhere between six and twelve weeks of active construction, and cabinet refacing projects often wrap up in a week or less. But the honest answer is that the clock starts well before demolition day. As a kitchen designer in Las Vegas, I plan the whole timeline with my clients up front, including the ordering and lead-time phases that most people never hear about until they’re living in the middle of them.
How Long Does a Kitchen Remodel Take in Las Vegas?
When homeowners ask me this question, they usually mean “how long will I be without a kitchen?” That’s the number that matters to daily life, and it’s shorter than the total project timeline. The full journey runs from the first design conversation to the final walkthrough, and it breaks into three distinct phases. Understanding all three is the difference between a remodel that feels organized and one that feels endless.
Phase 1: Design and Decisions
This phase takes as long as your decisions do. With a clear process it can move in a week or two; without one it can drag for months. This is where I earn my keep as a designer. We settle the layout, the cabinet style and finish, the countertop material, the backsplash, the hardware, and the lighting before anything is ordered. Every decision made now is a delay avoided later, because mid-project changes are the single biggest cause of blown timelines I see.

Phase 2: Ordering and Lead Times
Here’s the phase nobody warns you about. Once the design is locked, materials have to be ordered, and they don’t all arrive on the same schedule:
- Cabinets generally have the longest lead time, often several weeks depending on whether they’re semi-custom or fully custom.
- Countertops can’t even be templated until the cabinets are installed, and fabrication takes additional time after templating.
- Appliances are usually quick, but specialty and panel-ready models can surprise you.
The good news: you still have your old kitchen during this entire phase. A well-run project doesn’t start demolition until the major materials are confirmed, so you’re never camping in a torn-up house waiting on a cabinet truck.
Phase 3: Construction
This is the six-to-twelve-week window for a full remodel, and here’s roughly how it sequences:
- Demolition: a few days.
- Rough plumbing and electrical: about a week, longer if the layout is changing.
- Drywall, paint, and flooring: one to two weeks depending on scope.
- Cabinet installation: several days to a week.
- Countertop templating, fabrication, and install: this is the mid-project pause, since fabrication happens off-site after the cabinets are in.
- Backsplash, plumbing and electrical trim-out, hardware, and punch list: the final one to two weeks.
